School starts this Tuesday, and I was wondering what would be a good balanced breakfast to pack. I don't want to go through a lot of effort to make it since everyday I'm pressed with time. Also, add any special foods I should include on race day.

So far on my list:

Boxes of sun-maid raisins

Dried fruit such as papaya

Milk

  1. Add cheese and tomato sandwich with homous plus 2 Bananas

  2. Pizza it has a lot of protein

  3. actually, stuff that are vegan are better for you so i would pass up the milk.

  4. Your question says "lunch," but your details say "breakfast." ?

I'll go with lunch: Your dried fruits are good, but you also need to include some long-term energy sources/carbohydrates. Nuts, seeds, whole grains, and beans are good for this. It would be pretty easy to buy a large container of nuts and then just put the amount you want into a small Ziplock bag each day (reuse the bags each day). These carbohydrates will also give you protein. So, nuts + dried fruit =  trail mix. You can add in some pretzels or pieces of whole grain cereal too.

    Other ideas:

Whole pieces of fruit (like an apple) will be good for filling you up.

    Raw veggies

Whole grain bread or bagel (for a sandwich or alone)

    String cheese

  5. Definitely get in some carbs. Go with whole grains. I usually pack some triscuits or other whole grain crackers and some calcium rich cheese. Bring some fruits and veggie sticks as well, and some hummus and whole grain pita with veggies in a sandwich.
