What is a good science fiction story idea? I really need help on this.?

An astronaut discovers a lifeform in a star and communicates through light waves.   They tell him that the star is dying and he finds a way to save the star, its inhabitants and in the end his own planet.

Science fiction is something that we can't do yet.  Maybe write about a time machine or something.

How about the Ugly Duckling, but with aliens?  A girl is really unattractive as a human and all that goes with that.  People treat her horribly, etc.  Then aliens land and take over and she's really hot by alien standards.

You could have someone buy something from an antique store that was "possessed" or whatever it's called..and expand on it's "life"...where it came from ..how it got possessed..what happened to each family that had it in their homes.  (Warning..it might make you paranoid about antiques and family heirlumes )

PD...That story has been done in reverse on Twilight Zone. They tried to do plastic surgery on a girl to try to make her not  look so "horrible". At the end ..they knew they had failed...she was still a beautiful human girl..but they were aliens. The moral was "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Remember it?

Look around, ask "What if...?", then write about it.  There are no new ideas; stories are about storytelling.  If you tell the story well, the idea doesn't matter.  Write what you know.
