  2. I can't think of anything specific, but you might like the Chicken Soup for the Soul books; they're full of short, motivational/inspiring stories.

    ETA: Oh wait, yes I can--'Oh, the Places You'll Go!' by Dr. Seuss. The book has lots of pages, but there isn't much text on each page, so it's quick reading.
