  1. So, basically a mezzo soprano. If you don't know what the show is, I would recommend checking out some of the classics. You really can't go wrong. Things like:

    Guys and Dolls

    My Fair Lady

    Gypsy

    Anything by Cole Porter

    Anything by Gershwin

    Anything by Rodgers & Hammerstein

One thing you can do is to pick out 2 songs as possibilites - 1 classic and 1 contemporary. The classic shows usually require a more legit sound while the contemporary shows may use a more pop sound. So, if you have 1 from each, you'll have your bases covered. You could learn, say something from Oklahoma (Many a New Day is a good one) and something from a contemporary composer like Jason Robert Brown (Check out You Don't Know This Man from Parade)

Alternately, I think Cole Porter crosses all boundaries, so something from Kiss Me Kate might work well for either a classic or modern show. I Hate Men and Always True to You in My Fashion are both good songs and would work well if your school is doing a classic OR a more contemporary show.

    Good luck!

  2. Look into songs in les miserable
