I bought the red beans and I have some sausage and some rice, so I thought I would spice it all up, throw it together and make red beans and rice. Does corn bread sound ok, or some salad or what?

  1. Coleslaw would be my choice - oil and vinegar dressing.

  2. Home made corn bread sounds good to me!

  3. Sweet corn on the cob would be a nice accent also.

  4. Salad or greens.   You already have carbs & starch with the rice & beans, so cornbread would be really overdoing the carbs......

  5. salad

  6. those are side dishes

  7. cornbread sounds the best but you should throw sausage in the rice too

  8. corn bread sounds good

    you can make fried plantains

also a salad with onion is ually served at spanish places when eating rice n beans

  9. Cornbread and greens like collards are good.

  10. Some type of blackened chicken or beef would complement red beans and rice...for a totally Cajun meal.  Corn bread or southern biscuits will top it off.  Instead of bread, you could add corn on the cob to the meal as well as a small tossed salad.

  11. I usually have corn bread with my red beans and rice and I don't usually have any other side dishes because it's such a hearty meal.

  12. Corn bread would be great with it...sometimes I like to mix mine up a bit with the beans and rice.   If you want to make some different you could make Mexican Corn Bread.
