I'm thinking about switching to solar power, what are some good places to look for quotes on installation?

What part of California?

Try looking in your local phone book under "Solar".  If you were in the SF Bay area, I could recommend ReGrid.  There is also someone in San Ramon who did a phenomenal job for a neighbor of mine.

Your electric company. If you want to tie into their equipment, they will have to okay what is done. They have licensed installers who will do the job in such a way that you get the state rebate, too.

There is more than just solar photovoltaic in the rebate program too.
