in our dorm room we are allowed to have small pets, as long as they are contained, don't smell, and don't make a ton of noise. i would really like to have a pet...what are some good pets that would be optimal for my situation?

  1. I had neon fish my first year of college. Sounds kind of boring but the fish tank noise is relaxing and there are actually some really awesome fish species out there like angel fish, mollies, betas, little sharks, etc.

You could also go for something like a box turtle, lizard, or frog. I wouldn't go for a snake. I can see some people on your floor freaking out and your RA might not think thats too safe since if it gets out it can creep into air vents and into other peoples rooms.

Hamsters, gerbils or mice might be cute too as long as they don't have a really squeeky wheel.

  2. Depends what kind of pet you want. Want a pretty one to look and and to be a conversation piece? Try a lizard, fish, or small turtle.

Want a more interactive one? A hamster or gerbil will be good. Rats are a bit larger, but also make fun pets. You can even teach them to respond to their name and a few tricks. They are like the dumbed-down version of a dog.

Also, check with your roomie first. If you get a hamster and your roomie ends up being an anal p**p head about it, it could make for a tough school year.

  3. Betta fish :-)

I have two in a split tank in my apartment at college. Most people own fish or frogs or something of that sort. We can have birds and hamsters but I have never seen anyone with them before.

  4. The stipulations limit you to a few certain groups of animals. Animals that are best suited for the dorm would include fish or reptiles for the most part. Plus they are easy to take care of and don't make too much noise.

Rodents are small and friendly enough, but many make noise or are nocturnal (which can be annoying when trying to get a limited amount of sleep). Also, the bigger the animal, the more care is required to maintain the pet.

  5. Snake.

  6. turtles are good, brids, bunnies pharrets,

  7. HAMSTER

  8. Fish are fun, but I don't think that was what you meant. :)  You could have a hamster, guinea pig, turtle, frog, snake, bunny, although they can smell.  If you go to a pet store and tell them your situation, I'm sure they could help you find the perfect pet for you. :)

  9. chinchillas are great pets and are virtually smell free! they are also extremely adorable. they can be found in any pet store. they are small enough too. hope i helped!

  10. well betta fish are really easy...but turtles are the best!

i got a little turtle for my dorm and it's really great. turtles are the only amphibian/reptile that can recognize and bond with their owner.

i have a tank with 2 turtles and a fish and it always entertains me when i'm bored haha

  11. I would say a guinea pig or rabbit! Or hermit crabs if you don't mind the non cuddly ness!
