What is a good small pet to get?

Question

It will be for a 10-12 year old. and it is not a surprise she knows. So do her parents. It can't live for over 10 years because she doesn't want to take it to college. Please explain the small pet too.

pet rabbits. why u ask because they are sweet,small,loving,and come any many sizes, breeds, and colors. the sizes range from a tiny dwarf to a giant rex so u do have a chose in size of the small pet u want. it can also have perky ears,floppy ears, or  have one of both. it can have different patterns too!

hamsters! they live a few years and are perfect for that age group! ive had two hamster and they both passed away but they were good pets! but just dont get a dawrf hammy cuz they bite!!!

What about a bird or a rabbit easy to look after and there small and need so much just cleaning the rabbit needs grooming and both need feeding and watering not much!!

a hamster? I've had 3 of them. But your going to have to make sure she'll be commited to clean there cage very often..cause they can stink.

My daughter has 4 pet rats. They are lovable, cute, endearing, smart, fun, busy, and happy. She has a nice three tier cage about 4 feet tall, with ramps to each level. She also supplied them with swinging hammocks, or beds. They are still small, but larger than mice. They don't bite, and can be taught all kinds of things, like to come when you call, to sit up, and such as that.

Something to consider is they don't eat much either, though it's important to know what not to feed them.

well, i have a leopard gecko, they can live up to 25 years. so that's out. cause theres also the green anole but they dont like 2 b held and they r too fast. but they live up to 6years. dont get her a gerbil cause they r boring. maybe get her a bunny, they live like 10 years. what about a ferret, but their cages small. how bout a rat. dont  say eeewwww. they r a kwl pet. like a bigger gerbil. my sisters friend has a rat and we bebysitted her. she was the sweetest thing. u should look into it.

hamsters can be very evil little critters....if you want a small animal go for a guinea pig - very friendly, cuddle-able, live about 6 years avg. A rat or mouse is also a good choice, 3-4 year lifespan, very intelligent, curious, fun little critters. Any small animal you will have to clean wet spots from the cage daily, and change bedding and sanitize habitat at least once a month.
