  1. I would have to say that a lamar would be the way to go, that or 5150.  they are both ok boards that come at a resonable price.  I wouldnt spend more than a few hundred on the whole package.  stay away from the high end boards youll just spend alot more then you need.  plus your first board will get really beat up after a season or two.  I would just go with a package from the local board shop.  if you felt like going with a better pair of boots and bindings you wouldnt be making a bad choice, you can always move them to the new board.  I perfer ride bindings because they are light weight but amazingly strong and will last for a long time.  you could go with a nice pair of burton or t9's but that would get costly.  I would say spare no expence on boots for sure, take care of your feet.  if your feet are uncomfortable then that will ruin the rest of your day. I like DC, but a lot of the brands are good.  just make sure that you get somthing that fits right, not looks cool.

  2. I disagree with everyone - my first board was a Ride Control and it was a great board to learn on and I improved on it for several years. It is still a great board and I still ride it when the snow is thin. Get a good board that you can grow into and it will last you for many years.

Boots are a very personal fit item, maybe DC or Vans. Just try them on and get one that fits. Buy these at a local shop.

For bindings, it is stupid to spend $70 on plastic junk bindings when you can get a quality binding with metal buckles like the Ride EX for around $100 on the internet.

    Good Luck

  3. uh.. basically ANYTHING that fits you and is comfortable.. it really doesn't matter as a beginner.

  4. my first board was a Lamar and it was pretty sweet, durable, and light.
