  1. It depends on what you are going to ride. I am the same size(5'6, 130) and ride a 151. One way to find out the size is to stand up next to the board, and see how tall it is. If you will be riding mostly park, it should come up a little short of your chin (149-151). And if you will be riding a lot of powder and deeper snow, it should come up about to your nose. (153-155). If you are just learning how to ride, I would go with a shorter board (149) as it is easier to control. Brandwise, I would go with either a K2 or a Forum. I learned on a K2 and it was very forgiving!!! I ride a LIB tech total ripper which I dropped 500 bones on, but I love it!!! hope this helps!!!

  2. Put the board straight up and it shouldnt go past your chin.  If you're more of an experienced rider it can go just one inch below your chin.  If you are a newbie rider, get something that's like 4 inches below your chin.  This is what the ski place told me cuz I am a newbie as well.
