Most snowboard brands these days are good and often the one you go for does come down to personal preference. But its important you pick the right board for you based on your level of riding and the type of riding you like to do. Most snowboard brands have a board that will be really good for you, but they will also have boards that would be totally unsuitable for you so its important to pick the right one. Some of my favourite brands are Rome, Ride, K2, Gnu, Lib Tech, Atomic etc. Good luck with the riding.

Romes are amazing, but don't buy a snowboard because of it's brand. Look at your size, style of riding, type of board, and other things that are important to you when purchashing other than the brand.

preference my friend, just try all kinds of boards.  don't buy until you know the board you want...

Im gonna say not K2 as previously mentioned, stick to K2 for skis, there snowboards aren't too good...The best boards that pretty much no one pays attention to are Palmer's... The best board company i've ever ridden, they have a variety of boards from a full honeycomb, to the most Butterlicious board in the world(not really but close)
