What is a good soccer number?

Question

But it can't be these cause they're taken: 7,8,9,10,17,20

I wanted number 7 but its already taken,

So now I'm considering 18,19,22 and 2

What do you guys think?

odd numbers rule for me. usually i pick 9 or 7, but wen those r taken (there kinda popular) i never pick even numbers. odd numbers r different therefore they stand out more.

The higher numbers are traditionally reseved for substitutes, numbers from 2-11 being for starting out-field players and 1for the goalkeeper.

So 2-11 have more prestige than the higher numbers in my opinion. They are usually given out according to the players positions.

2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 are usually defenders numbers, although midfielders also wear 4, 5 & 6 as well as 7, 8 & 11. Strikers are usually 9 & 10.

So take the 2 if you play at right-back, and if the rest of 3-11 are all taken then it is down to personal preference over anything else really.

Paul Scholes played in the 18 jersey for most of his career, Dwight Yorke was 19 for United and off the top of my head a famous 22 is Yakubu.

In organized Team play the first 11 numbers are indicative

of the positions of the players on the field. Since the influx

of NASL and MLS and all the other Soccer Variations

there have been higher numbers selected. A lot of players

choose the number of a favorite player. All through my

playing career I have used the numbers 6,7,8,9 and

OO and 1,2. My personal field number for me is # 32.

It was given to me by my High School coach after

I had Scored my 32nd HS career goal in a State

Quarterfinal in 1972. It meant everything to me

because it was then MY number. I have used it with

pride since then. Your number should have meaning

for you, you have to wear it with pride.

it all depends on what position you play. 14 is a good number for a striker, 4 is also good for a midfielder, or even 11 and 12 are good too
