What is a good sociology textbook?

I would really like to study sociology in college, currently I am in h.s and can not take any sociology classes. I would like to read and learn about it, preferably in a college textbook of some sort. What is a good into to sociology textbook that covers all aspects of sociology?

giddens' Sociology. seems big at first...it deals with multiple aspects, but it is general enough to be understood by someone outside the field.

Sociology by Anthony Giddens covers pretty much everything and is easy to read and understand - I'm using it for the first year of my sociology degree and it's been a great help :-)
