  1. KC and the Sunshine Band - "Get Down Tonight" would be a good fit. "...Do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight..." This is coming from an established DJ. Doesn't make me a '70's expert, but I know the music. My wife said Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" would work well too (no she's not a stoner... lol). I hope this helps!

  2. I vote For YMCA by The Village People- it opened up more eyes than you might think.

  3. John Lennon was really big.. with songs like "Imagine all the people, living life in peace". The country was still recovering from the Vietnam War. Hippies protested the war, and held peace rallies. In the larger cities, the early 70's were dominated by this sort of thing.

  4. Saturday Night Fever by the Bee Gees, and movie did capture a real time and population!

I lived then so I know. ..while those characters were real, they also influenced a generation of teens who wanted to look like that if they went out to dance....so hardly anyone did dance since they knew they couldn't dance as well...but they did wear those goofy clothes, and act like those kids.

This is the late 70's, after the Hippies and into the Disco generation that was lost between hippies and New Age.

Donna Summers, The Bee Gees, President Nixon, and VP Agnew were big, and Jimmy Carter and the first oil shortage when we had to wait on lines to buy gas and only on and odd/even day depending upon your license plate number. People locked their gas caps because strangers would steal gas by siphoning it out of the tank!!
