My mother will be travelling there, and asked me what I want her to bring back. I want something long lasting (not perfume) & classy (no T shirts or anything else that says I luv Paris!) So maybe something to display in my home. What are they "known for" there, linens? china? silk? glass? of course, a Prada bag would also do if it were cheaper than here!

  1. Perfume is always a good bet.  If you want something to display in your home, look for a store called "Pierre Deux" which specializes in the linens, etc. from beautiful Provence - colourful tablecloths, etc.

  2. The museums offer wonderful exhibitions (temporary and permanent, they have posters for them that can be beautiful. I like prints, one can find good value prints of streets, architectures etc everyday scenes etc. you can buy some off the Bouquinistes (on the Seine river banks in little dark green stalls located close to ST Michel on both sides of the river or there are several shops I am particlularly fond of shops near Place St Sulpice in the adjoining streets.

Also some stores sell original photo prints (B/W) that can be interesting.

There are also amusing posters such as the train coming out of teh station which is now the musee d'Orsay, or the construction of the Eiffel Tower or even the Statue of Liberty

French porcelain is beautiful, Limoges is a huge production center some hand painted and some not, there aer a few stores rue Royale Bernardeau is my favourite, your mother may also have an excellent selection at the department stores (Gallerie Lafayettes or le Printemps).

  3. Eiffel tower.

  4. A white flag.  Should be plenty around.

  5. Tell your mom to bring you home a hot guy. You can display him in your home, and he's portable so you can take him anywhere.

  6. Sevres Porcelain pieces are wonderful collectibles made in the Sevres factory in the southwest of Paris which began production in 1756.

Sèvres porcelain is famous for many styles and techniques, including white figures representing cupids, shepherdesses, or nymphs which are highly decorated.

A tiny figure or a decorated piece like a jar would be very nice to display at home.

  7. Sexual disease!

  8. you can buy smal eifel tower or arc de trioph
