What is a good sport bike for me?

Well I have very rcently found an increasing interest in motorcycles. I've decided that next year I want to buy a bike. I currently have no riding experience but will be getting lessons from my bro-in law. I want a sport bike. Nothing too crazy like a Busa or anything but I dont want any 250 baby bike. Plus I think I would outgrow a 250r ninja quickly. However the low price attracts me more to it each day. hmmm. Anyway I was thinking Kawasaki Ninja 650r maybe...? Or, a Honda CBR600RR? Are these good choices? I really like the Honda but its very expensive. Is a Kawasaki 650r as quick as a CBR600. Also, How fast would one of these bikes be compared to a mustang or camaro for example. Just so I can get a comaparison of how fast various size bikes are. What can a 500 run with? 600? 1+? Im not looking to drive like a maniac or anything but I dont want somethin that cant keep up with your average car. Any racing I do WILL BE ON THE TRACK! Thanks alot for the help!

If you are over 21, get a used 600. Under get a used 500. Over 30 get a new 600. 650R is a good beginner bike across the board.

Take an MSF course. It's fun!

CBR600RR It's dominated the class in almost every comparison shootout for the last few years.  It has collected more "bike of the year" honors over the last few years than others in the catagory.   Either one of these bikes would leave a mustang or camaro in the rear view mirror off the line and in the long haul.

a cbr600 will eat up a stock camaro or mustang GT with ease...no comparison

but as long as you keep the revs low, it wouldn't be a bad starter either, pretty light, pretty forgiving...

I have a dead friend, who would make you a deal on his YZF R6, but it shattered when he collided with a scrap hauling truck.

He had years of riding experience, so it isn't just you, but the other vehicles on the road. Lately they're all on cell phones, jerking off, reading papers, doing meth, and NOT paying attention to the road.

For a real rush, and less traffic, get a bad@$$ dirtbike, like a Yamaha 4 stroker...Saweeet!

Search Yahoo answers for various answers and suggestion.  For an inexperienced rider, a 600 Yamaanyhondazuka is WAY OVER YOUR HEAD.  I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but these are really race machines placed on the street.  Current 600 class sport bikes would be world class racers probably as little as 3 or 4 years ago.

A 125 street bike will normally have a power to weight ratio similar to the sportiest cars, so speed and or acceleration are not really any issue, if you are comparing a bike to a car.

Start off by taking a motorcycle safety course.  Then test ride a few bikes.  You might actually learn a lot and make it through the first months.  50% of new motorcycle street riders quit and never return to the streets.  There is a reason.

The Ninja 650R is a sport touring bike. The CBR600RR is a supersport bike. The Ninja 650R is a parrallel twin. The CBR600RR is an inline 4 cyl. The Ninja 650R will do about 145mph. The CBR600RR will do about 160mph.

The CBR is the best weapon for the track.

The Ninja 650R will be more comfortable for low speed manuevers and long trips.

Get a gsxr 600 it tops the honda and is very reliable plus suzuki is the way. By the way it isn't too much for a beginner.

The ninja 250 is about 5 seconds 0-60, faster than almost any sort of car (excluding super cars, ferraris, bugatti veyron, that sort of thing)

If you do not want ninja 250, How about a buell blast?  The Blast is buells entry level bike, and a buell is quite sophisticated.

Never be mistaken for a beginning biker again. Blast is about 430 cc, a single cylinder thumper.

($4400 for the Blast, as I recall vs $3500 for the ninja 250R.)

First off, a 600RR is a bad choice, as it is a "race replica."

not for noobs.

The 650r is an awesome bike, very comfortable, the only vehicle I've had for the last 2 yrs.

It is as quick or more so than the CBR until it hits high speeds, where the superior hp of the inline-4 takes over.

With a few simple modifications, mine is probably capable of ~3.5-3.7 sec 0-60 and under 12 seconds in the quarter, much faster than a mustang, etc. and plenty fast to get into trouble quickly.

you will out grow the 250 in less then 1 month

best thing to do is to buy a used 250 for about 1500 or 2000

learn to ride it, on your spare time, then sell it to buy a cbr600

i ride a cbr 600 f3, it's is faster then other 600cc bikes

honda builds reliable motorcycles, i'll have to suggest on cbr
