What is a good sport sedan?

I'm looking to buy a car. Sporty, but also not very compact so i can drive people around as well. currently I'm looking at the BMW 3 series year 1999-2001.

I'm looking for a car with nice design and performance. Also priced under $9000.

The only cars I would recommend for that age are the Lexus IS 300, used Acura TL, and a used BMW 3-series, like you're thinking of.

All are good sports sedans.

The 3 series is an excellent car and the best you could get but the back seat is just too small for adults.  Look into 2003 Infiniti G35 which has more room and is more livable and practical with everyday life and is competitive with the 3 series but a little over price range. Can't go earlier b/c this is first year they were made.  But based on the Altima which would be it's second year since redesign in 2002 so it's reliable.  So check into a 2003 Altima.  Also check into an Acorrd which is more sporty than you think with 2003 b/c this is the redesign year.  Also the MB C class is good but not much roomier than the 3 series.  Look into some larger sports sedans like the 5 series, Audi A6, and MB E class for 1998-99 years.  I'd try to get one of them if I couldn't get a 2003 G35, Altima, or Acorrd for $9K.  Also look into a 1999 Acura TL.  This would be almost a perfect fit for you.

BMW's are very nice. But that are expensive to get fixed.

Stick with American cars if you have a low budget.

However, you might want to look into a Lexus... They are pretty nice, not really fast though.
