  1. Numerous companies have DRiP's (Direct Re Investment Programs).  You buy one share of stock, enroll in the program, and then you can just add small amounts of money as you can.  They will buy portions of stock with your investments and your dividends, so you build savings quite rapidly.  GE and Proctor & Gamble are two steady companies that come to mind.

I agree that a DRiP plan is a good place to start.  If you can find one inside an IRA (I know there are some) then that is even better.  You may also consider a mutual fund within an IRA as well.  There are many programs that allow you to invest just $25 per month.  If you are young, a Roth IRA will likely serve you better than a traditional one.

  3. I suggest you check out prosper (dot) com.  You can lend small amounts-$50.  I suggest you lean towards those paying interest in the 8-10% range, as they should be safer.  Good luck.  Jack
