  1. 1) This is not a racing question, so if you post it in the correct section you will get a lot more replys.

    2) When you do post this in the General Bike section (http://answers.yahoo.com/dir/;_ylt=asym.... open your question up a little.

What type of riding you want to do, sports, touring..... so on.

  2. Hey Net,

-It depends where you want to ride?  Street, Dirt or both?  If your looking into a sport bike I would suggest the Kawasaki Ninja 250r.  If you are interested in a dual purpose type bike for both dirt and street I would suggest the Kawasaki KLX250s or the Suzuki DR200.  Or if you want a Cruiser type bike check out the Honda Rebel 250.

-These bikes are definitely starter bikes that you can learn to ride and eventually move up to a larger bike if you feel you need more power or just want a bigger motorcycle. " It is not how strong or big you are that determines the motorcycle that is right for you.  It is the training and skill that you have mastered that determines what bike you should buy, Young Grasshopper ".   Hope this helps ya.  =  )

-Oh ya, also invest in taking a Motorcycle Safety Course.  It is well worth the time and money.  JMO

  3. Hi,

I started riding with the Ninja 250.  It is super lightweight especially if you are 5'2" and the stand over will be just right for you.  It has lots of power to get you to freeway speeds quickly and it is very easy to ride and maneuver.  I am also about your height and I loved that motorcycle.  Check it out.

  4. I'm a big proponent of learning to ride on the style of bike you want to be riding long term.  In other words, if you like sport bikes get a sport bike, don't get a standard just because some people say they might be easier.

Without knowing what kind of bike you like most, it can be hard to give a good recommendation.  The Ninja 250 would be a decent sport bike.  If you like cruisers or standards you might want to look into the Honda Rebel or Honda Shadow.  They are pretty easy to handle, have a lower ride height and are oftern used in MSF courses.

I think the main issue for you would be finding a motorcycle with a comfortable ride height.  If you can only put one foot down, you have to support much more weight of the bike.  It would probably be useful to go to a couple dealers and sit on the bikes to feel them out.

  5. I am 5'5 and just purchased an 04 Buell blast it is a 450cc however this was my very first time riding a bike at all and it handles great I would recommend one to anyone especially a new female rider, you will be able to sit and tough the ground very easily.

  6. I would start with a pitster pro...it's a pit bike 4 adults

  7. 250cc is a nice size and will take you about as fast as you would want to go.  As to style ... crotch rockets might be a bit difficult to handle for a beginner.
