  1. Well I'm a little late on this answer, but I'll have to agree with the other two guys. Mossberg 500 all the way. Personally I'd rather use a rifle than a slug, but if you want a shotgun stick with Mossberg

  2. remington 870 express pump gun. You acn pick one up new for aroung 300 dollars. It is a very reliable shotgunand there are millions sold since the 1950s, I think.

  3. remington 870, 20 guage, rifled barrel, with a 2.5 to 4 or 5 power scope, 2.75 high brass sabot slugs.... won't loosen your teeth or fillings.

20 guages are not for kids any more.. there are new slugs that shoot about 200 yrds. without a problem and are accurate.

  4. Mossberg 500. Try and get one that holds more than 5 in the tube.

  5. Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotgun model # 54244

These are a really decent reliable shotgun thats not too expensive. DicksSporting goods had these on sale last fall in my area for $199..... I own several expensive shotguns but I still prefer and use the Mossberg 500 Slug Gun for deer....

Look at this page.... Pick a model thats a slug gun. Use Foster type slugs.... I have taken deer with this ammo. Sabots are better but expensive - I never felt the need for sabots....
