  1. oyster sauce or hunan sauce

  2. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Chicken-Bro...

I use this one as a base for many stir fries- I don't use oyster sauce though.

  3. kung bao, if you go to any chinese restaurant they will sell you just the sauce for a very cheep price

  4. The simplest - try one of the following:

    - Lee Kum Kee Hoisin sauce

    - Lee Kum Kee Oyster sauce

    - Dark soy sauce, with a little sugar, thickened with cornstarch slurry

    - Lee Kum Kee black bean sauce

There are many more, but I think these will go best with what you have.

    1. The trick is to stir fry the vegetables and shrimp and put aside.

    2. In the pan, fry some garlic and onion until done. Then add a few spoons of one of the above sauces.

    3. Thin down with a little bit of water and then add a mixture/slurry of cornstarch and water, stir and simmer until thickened.

    4. Taste to make sure the seasoning is correct, then add the shrimp and veggies back to the pan. Stir through and serve.

  6. Buy a bottle of oyster sauce, or abalone sauce. Stir fry the veggies and the shrimp separately. Then combine all and add sauce, stir-fry to heat. Serve.

  7. honey, lemon juice, chilli, pepper, salt = basic sweet and sour sauce. A good vinegar mixed with sugar can be used in place of the honey and lemon juice as a cheaper substitute. This is nice but you can then also add one, two or more of the following: tomato puree/passata, Chinese 5-spice powder (if you're from the UK, you'll know of this. If not, then try a chinese supermarket/deli), star anise, ginger, cinnamon, coriander, mustard. All of the above can be fresh or ground/dried spices.

Or, cheapest, try mixing honey and lemon with a spoon of mustard and a pinch of chilli powder, a good few dollops of tomato ketchup and a couple of spoons of water. Then simmer for five mins and add to the stirfried veg and prawns, tossing it all on a high heat until it's steaming hot. Hope this works for you.

  8. (seafood)hoisen sauce or oyster sauce (a little bit more salty)
