Question:

What is a good tent to buy?

I want to buy my niece and nephew a tent for camping. They will be camping in the SW of the USA, and they are fond of camping at KOA campgrounds. They are in their late 20s, and are not large people.

They will use an air mattress in the tent, and they have a truck to transport it, but I think they would prefer small over large tents.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

  1. MSR tents are my favorite!

Any of the major brand names are good - North Face, Mountain Hardwear, etc.

A good starter tent is a Eureka or a Cabelas tent.

  2. I would suggest one of those tents that just pop up out of a can or something, or whatever they are called. Not one of the ones you put up yourselves, as those may be time wasters and can fall and you can die. Good luck :]

    LoL♥

  3. For the type of camping they are doing a kmart/walmart cheapie would work nicely

Features to look for would be plenty of ventilation, ease of setup, headroom.

There are some tents that attach to your truck or SUV allowing bug free access to your vehicle

I'd be certain of the size of their air mattress and that it will easily fit in the tent

One thing I have used over the years is a large welcome mat at the entrance for keeping dirt and sand out....
