What is a good theme for a woman's 61st Birthday Party?

She was a little upset that she didn't have a big 60th birthday party bash (unfortunately no one could afford to throw a nice party). This year we, her children, have decided to make it up to her by throwing her a 61st party bash. But alas! We need a theme, and I was thinking that the Prime Number Birthday party wouldn't be the most popular theme. It will probably be held in a Church banquet hall, and will be in November. Thank you!

  1. Do a 60's theme!  You have your choice of early 60's (Fabian, Frankie Avalon, Dion, Bobby Rydell, etc)... or later 60's (Hippie era - British Invasion songs).  The Beatles and Beach Boys blend between the 2:).  That's when she was a teenager, and everyone loves the songs they listened to as a teenager!  ....  (I'll be 60 this year, and don't think my daughters are throwing one either - but I'd love a 60's theme, either era:)   (She's a little young for the 50's.  I remember a few songs from the very end of the 50's, but that's not an era she'd relate to)

  2. Yes, it might be a little difficult to find party items that say "Happy 61st", but there are tons of things you can do. I think it is a great idea to have a party to help her remember her growing up years. Make sure everyone dresses up in the style as well. She will love it!

Also, considering getting it catered. When we celebrated my grandmother's 75th birthday, we looked into some Utah catering and found some great companies. My grandma loved the great food and the fact that no one was too put out for her celebration (not having to cook). It was great!

    Good luck!

  3. Well what we did for my grams 70th wouldn't work in a church (we hired her a stripper)

Forever young is a nice theme for someone older.. just skip the stripper!

  4. Give her a "blast from the past theme", you know like throw her a party that takes her back to the time when she was a young girl. Do a 50's theme , and play the music of that era, e.g. Doo w*p, Rock n' roll. Have people dress to match the theme and have fun! I hope you like my idea, but if you don't then good luck, and peace!!
