  1. Best times are during slow periods.

    This means:

    7-10 am,

    2-4 pm,

    8pm to closing.

  2. Most restaurants don't accept applications (or even deliveries!) between 11 AM and 2 PM ... or between 5 PM and 8 PM.

So, you'd want to time your application for an off-peak hour ... about 3 PM would be best in most situations.

You could go in the morning, perhaps ... if the place you want to apply to does a morning business.  But, again ... please get there before 11 AM ... perhaps 9:30 or 10 AM would be best.

Most restaurant general managers work first shift ... that would be 7-3 in a 24-hour operation ... or 4-9 in a dinner-only place.  A place that serves only lunch and dinner would typically have the general manager on duty from (maybe) 10 AM to 4 PM.

It doesn't hurt to call ahead and ask when is the best time to submit an application.  When you go, get there early, dress NICELY, be prepared for an immediate interview (you just might be offered one ... if you are, TAKE it!), and bring your own pen!

Most importantly ... smile!  The restaurant "golden rule" is ... "Attitude Is EVERYTHING!" ... and it really is!  If you make it clear that you really want to work there and you seem enthusiastic about the job ... it's yours!

  3. Between the hours of 2-4 pm.  This is usually slower, and they are cleaning up from lunch and prepping for dinner.  This is when the manager will most likely give you an interview on the spot if they are hiring.

  4. After 2pm and be prepared to have an on the spot interview so dress professionally. I suggest you put together a Resume, it will help you stand out from the other applicants. I am guessing you are young in your work career so I suggest you use more of a functional format. Put a Summary of Qualifications on top and highlight by bulleting 5 of your most relevant marketable skills. Researching the company can really pay of if you know what the company values you can target those skills that will help them. For more on resumes visit http://www.bestemploymentresources.com, there are even interview tips there.

  5. Very early morning might also be a good choice. Basically, as a poster above me said, try to get them at a time when they're not too busy.
