I'm leaving from JFK to Montego Bay tomorrow morning on Air Jamaica. Our plane leaves at 7:30, I've already done an online web check in, so I believe I'm kinda pre-registered. What do you think would be a good time to get to the airport. I dont want to get there to early, but I dont want to chance it either. Thanks in Advance.

  1. I would suggest that you get to the airport around two hours prior to your departure. You want to allow yourself plenty of time to get through security checkpoints. You can check what the average wait times for the lines are at a specific airport for a specific time of day here:

Hope this helps and have a great trip to Jamaica!

  2. Before your flight leaves!

  3. Since you've already checked in, two - two and a half hours is more than enough time. You can just hand over your checked bags (if you have any), get through security, and be on your merry way.

  4. For an international flight from JFK I suggest you get there about 3 to 4 hours before flight time.  Don't take any chances.  Bon voyage!!

  5. 2 hours is PLENTY of time. So shoot for around 530am. Even with 2 hours you will end up sitting around for an hour or more, but its not worth the risk of cutting it much closer.

3 or 4 hours is absurd. i fly internationally all the time, and never have needed more then 2hours.

  6. Definitely 2 hours before....it is a great deal of time.

I fly jetBlue and I get there 2 hours before because my plane is ALWAYS there. The only time i came 3 hours before, it wasn't there...I usually have time to get my things set and my seat nice in the crew cabin. You will definitely have enough time to get settled in with security, luggage, etc.
