I'm flying into and out of Milan but ultimately going to Cinque Terre--any thoughts on good places to see in between or near those two points? Thanks!

  1. I visited both places when I backpacked through Italy.  Venice and Verona are relatively close to Milan, but you'll have to backtrack to get to Cinque Terre.  Venice is great to see for obvious reasons.  Verona's a quaint little city too - plenty of Romeo & Juliet memorabilia abounds.

Genoa is the closest large city to Cinque Terre (I think) and I stopped there too.  It has some cool museums and nice port area.

  2. Hello! I'm from Italy (Florence).

There's a lot of beautiful city between Milan and Cinque Terre.

You should visit Parma. In this city you can taste the original Parmigiano Reggiano and the very famous Parma's Jam.

You can also visit Genova. In this town there's a beautiful and very big aquarius famous around the Europe. Bye Bye and have an happy holiday in Italy!!!!

  3. Levanto

  4. you have to take a look to LAGO DI GARDA (40 minutes from milano) and Como. Then you have to stop to Genova and Santa Margherita Ligure. Take a look also to Camogli!

  5. Follow conley39's advice. Verona and Venice are out of your way.

  6. Genova and don't forget to see San Fruttuoso a piece of Paradise, don't miss it you can get there only by boat.

  7. Pavia is a nice town close to Milan. http://www.italytravelescape.com/things-...

All three are stops on the train line between Milano Centrale and Monterosso in Cinque Terre.

  8. Mela has the the right answer. Between Milano (Lomabardi) and Cincque Terra (Liguria) is Emilia Romana. Emilia Romana is know for it's food. I suggest stops at Parma, Pavia (technically in Lombardi) and Piacenza. Grab a bottle of Bonarda Frizzante, some bread, Grana Pandano and a local coppa and have lunch in the Piazza del Cavallo in Piacenza.
