What is a good track day car in the UK?

Wanting to get rid of my kit car and get a fast car for track days but just not sure what to get. It needs to be fast to keep my interest, but also needs to be reasonably cheap (below £4k) as i dont want to spend too much on something that is potentially going to get scratched and scraped etc.

Whats anyones suggestions?

  1. Nissan 180sx are great fun, comfy coupe with a 2.0 turbo that can be very tail happy when provoked.

Maybe an early import Mitsubishi Evo 1 or 2, might just get 1 under 4 grand.

  2. Mondeo st24 fast and you can pick them up cheep right now

  3. If you want a car for track days and commuting how about an early Impreza turbo, £4k would get you an N reg UK example, 236hp& 4 wheel drive.

Or an RS turbo escort, 132bhp, but can be cheapily modified to 160+, bear in mind that though only £3- £4k, these will not depreciate in value as they are starting to gain popularity.
