What is a good tread depth for a stirrup?

  1. You know I have not thought about it. I would imagine for most general basic riding it would not matter. I know that they have some more specialized stirrups that bend more for endurance riding.

    With western stirrups most don't even have a tread, instead having smooth leather.

    Realistically you should not be putting that much pressure on your stirrup that you should need too much of a tread.

    I would consider the tread on my boots to be more important, slick boot bottoms can result in slipping and sliding in the mud.
