I am looking for a wakeboard that would be good quality. I am just a beginner so I don't really know what to look for. I was just wondering what was a good size of a wake board, and kinda what a good price was.

  1. No body can answer this question for your except for yourself. Board Stop ( http://www.boardstop.com ) has a board finder to help you narrow down your search. I suggest you go with a package deal which includes board and bindings. You will need a board between 128-134 cm long. If you're a beginner, I recomend you not spending more than $350 (US). Spending any more than that may be a waste of money if you change your mind about the sport or really get into it and want to upgrade to a pro-level board. As far as quality, if you stick to any major brand of wakeboard, you will have decent to good quality. I suggest Hyperlite, CWB, O'Brien, or Liquid Force for these companies have been around and have good factory support, but there are other great companies around. Stay away from discount store boards and boards that are no longer in production.

BTW my wife and daughter both ride Hyperlite Motive 134's and love them. They have different bindings due to personal preference. My daughter is a bit smaller than you and my wife is a tad bit larger than you. My daughter is intermediate and my wife is a beginner.

  2. If you have a local board shop, you could visit there and ask for some help.  You can view websites to get an idea of the type of board and size by visiting http://www.wakeside.com and review the boards by various manufacturers.  Most of the manufacturers show a graph of the ability, feel, and pop of a board.  Click on the boards of your choice then click the sizes tab.  Most will explain the appropriate length based on size and weight range.

Once you have an idea of the type of board you might be interested in, check again with the board shop(s) in your area, you can rent that board and/or binding to try them out.  Most of the time, your rental fee will be applied to the purchase if you choose to buy the board.  Good luck.
