I have been told that undergraduate journalism is low bang for the buck, and for undergrad, to look into english and history or english and foreign language. I would like to possibly study sociology or anthropology, but I don't know if this will be helpful for when I go to journalism grad school. If you have any experience in the field, I would really appreciate your advice.

  1. I don't have experience, but I am thinking of journalism as well. I would believe that history and english would be the most beneficial. English for obvious reasons and history because it provides an array of knowledge when it comes to writing various things. However, I don't think you're limited when it comes to choosing an undergrad program. Just do what you're interested in.

  2. You could take an English major with a minor is Journalism. Always take a foreign language (one you can actually use). Undergrad is all about exploring. Take soc and anthro; see if you like it. You should never limit your studies to that which will make money for you. It's all important in the end.

If you're interested in Journalism, think about Columbia University, and if you can't swing that, check out Ohio University in Athens, Ohio--an excellent program that has produced a number of noted journalists.
