Hi! My sister turned 16 last week and yesterday she got her G1 (a learner's permit). Now, my family and I decided to buy her a vehicle. Our parents are going to give us the money to buy her the vehicle and my brother and I need to go purchase it. My brother and I sort of interviewed her a little and this is what she wants in a vehicle (she doesn't know we're buying her a vehicle).

> Good with gas. Not too pricey.

> A pick up truck

> Has between 3-5 seats in total

> Below $5,000 (my bro and I are going to buy a previously owned vehicle)

> Has to have been made between 1997-present

What's a good type brand of vehicle for her? I need LOTS AND LOTS OF OPTIONS!

  1. 98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder

  2. first off your going to be lucky to find a good used pick up for less than 5k and built after 97 ive been in the used car biz for many years now and the 5k and under market is going away quickly

id say if you can get lucky enough to find a toyota for that price jump on it  regardless of miles on it because ive sold over ten of these trucks with over 200k on them and made a nice profit(the cheapest one i sold went for 3800)  you could go toyota or mazda or even a nissan frontier but really the toyota is the best option because they are great long lasting vehicles  just try to stay away from the 3.0 4cyl as they had bad headgasket issues and not all of them got the service campaingn performed on them(if a dealer tells you it just needs a tune up and it is running bad chances are its the 3.0 with a bad head gasket) thats about all i can tell you guys  besides GOOD LUCK

  3. A difficult request indeed. Especially if she is looking for a truck that will seat 3-5 people. That you limit her to an extended cab type pickup truck. Most of which all have V6 engines. So good with gas is almost out of the question. However, some options are the Toyota Tacoma, Nissan pickup truck line and some of the ford ranger lines. Now finding one that would meet her needs for around 5K will make it even more difficult. However it is do-able if you take your time to look and negotiate will with the sellers. I would start with some private sellers first and then work your way up to the dealers.

  4. I wouldn't get a pick up truck as they are not fuel efficient.

Toyota Corolla is a pretty decent car as a first car. They are fuel efficient and reliable.

Oh and manuals are better too as they help with saving gas
