What is a good video camera to buy?

OK, I am pretty behind the times as far as digital video cams go. I pretty much want something for home movies, something that has good sound quality. I also would like something I can use to do movies with, like with the effects - soundtracks, subtitles and transition effects. And I want to be able to do videos for You-Tube.

If possible I don't want one that will totally drain the wallet, if you know what I mean...lol.

Look for an entry level MiniDV camcorder from Canon, Sony, JVC or Panasonic.

I would suggest one of the lower end Canon Mini DV camcorders, I have one and have had no issues with it and if used properly produces great quality video.
