Question:

What is a good video editing software for Windows Vista?

I have Windows Vista and I want to know what a good video editing software is to use with it. I want good effects, like smudge/blur, slow motion, fast motion, bloodsplatter, etc. Just any cool effects. I also want it to have good noise effects, like a gun shot.

I don't care if it costs or not, but I certainly don't want it to be pricey.

  3. i have Movie maker. it came with my Vostro 1400. go under search and search movie and check for the results. Versions 2.x included in Windows XP includes 60 transitions, 37 effects, 34 title and 9 credits animations. The Windows Vista version includes a different set of transitions, effects and title/credits animations while dropping a few older ones. There are in all 49 effects and 63 transitions. They are applied by using a drag and drop interface from the effects or transitions folders. Titles and credits can be added as stand alone titles or overlaying them on the clip by adding them onto the selected clip. Titles range from static (non-animated) titles to fly in, fading, news banner, or spinning newspaper animations. Due to the flexible interface, programming custom effects and other content is possible for version 2.0 and higher using XML. The Windows Vista version suppors Direct3D-based effects. Microsoft also provides SDK documentation for custom effects and transitions. [10] At the Movie Maker forums, users can get assistance on creating and adding custom effects and transitions.

There has been 6 movie makers.

  4. Power Director.

It does cost some, but it's totally worth it. It's got all the good effects and other cool stuff like that. It's easy to use too.

  5. You can get Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection for free with a key generator. Just search that up and find one to download (make sure its legit and doesnt have a virus) I have it and its great. Hope i helped

  6. well bloodsplatter is the only one you will have forfeit because the ability to create that effect is only in software of relatively high pricing (such as adobe after effects). noise effects usually don't come with video editing software and there are sites online where you can download a limited library for free.

to give an accurate recommendation, you will need to define 'pricey'. however the software i recommend is Sony Vegas Pro (~$300 with academic pricing ~$500 without academic pricing). probably the better do-it-all editing software to the other alternatives

personally on my Vista laptop I use Adobe Premiere Pro for editing with Adobe After Effects for special effects and Adobe Soundbooth for sound effects (although Adobe Audition is the better alternative here).
