What is a good way to build on shoulder muscles?

  1. One of my favorite exercises for shoulders is the military press, which involves just sitting upright on a bench with the back straight up and pressing a pair of dumbells straight up.  Concentrate on lowering the dumbells so your arms form a 90 degree angle with the weights near shoulder height and then use your shoulder muscles to pull your elbows straight up so that your arms are straight with the weights over your shoulders.  Another favorite is lateral raises, sit or stand with dumbells gripped at your sides and use your shoulder muscles to pull the weights straight out to your sides to about shoulder height.
