  1. u need to prove to them that you are not going to race it nor ride it on freeways until you have at least a year of riding experience

  2. get a scooter till your 18 then get a motorcycle.

  3. you can't legally buy one...until you're 18

you need a co-signer anyways for purchase

unless you have cash in hand walk in buy it out

your best bet is to talk to your dad...and make him buy you one

  4. I don't think there is a way.  I wouldn't let my kids either if i was a parent.  I ended up waiting till I turned 18 and snatched one for cheap.  They moan and complain a lot about me riding it but  whatever.

    ill add a little more

Reasoning with a parent is just hard, they can always use the safety factor because its always there.  Your on a small bike with no protection other than a helmet and armored jacket.  Everyone else is in cages.  You can be careful all you want but all it takes is just the slightest bump from a car to knock you out.

They are also fast.  You could counter this by telling them they could by you a bike with a smaller engine like a 250 or so.

I don't see many people under 18 on motorcycles at all so good luck.  If nothing works just beg and beg and beg.

  5. You say they're not that dangerous if you know what you're doing. I guess the question is, do you know what you're doing? If not you need to prove to your parents that you are willing to learn. Sign up for the MSF course. Show them that you are going to do everything within your control to be the safest rider you can be. Even with the best training and practicing you can't control the action of other motorists on the road. Your dad, being a former rider, knows this.

You should also consider your motivation for getting a motorcycle. If it's just to look good or show off for your friends, wait until you're 18 and have your own insurance.

  6. I have 3 sons ,I told them  they could not have motor bikes. They saved up and bought them any way.Me and Mrs moaned alot but didn't make any difference. Nothing you say to your parents will change their minds.

  7. Hide the newspaper.

Just this morning there was a story about a biker riding into a garbage truck and getting his arm stuck under a tire.

Maybe he's lucky, it could've been his unshod head.

I think people always assume the biker was at fault.(unless you have a motorcycle)

  8. Tell them it'll use less gas and you'll be careful.

  9. Upon reflection of your last sentence I'm inclined to believe your parents know more about you and motorcycles that it

is apparent to reader.  They and the motorcycle community

have that much in common.  Thank you for the humor.
