  2. This is a good question.  My daughter was nominated as well.  We told her she had to raise a good portion of the funds herself.  She followed the fundraising guide with little success.  She sent letters to the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Garden Club, American Legion, etc.  Out of 10 community organizations only the Lions Club made a donation.  It was very frustrating.  It made me see how unfair our community organizations are.  All these clubs have scholarships for high schoolers.  None support our elementary and junior high students.  This is a shame as this is the critical age for building things such as leadership skills.

Anyway, she did get $20-25 from a couple relatives as well.  She has also been collecting aluminum cans for recycling.  She has earned over $200 from this endeavor.  Contact some local restaurants/bars and ask if you can stop by a couple times a week to collet their aluminum cans.  You'll make money and help the environment at the same time.

    Good Luck!!!
