  1. When you're not cycling, compress your wrist by getting some wrist wraps.  For me, I do that along with rub them down with "Blue Emu" cream.  Also, take MSM everyday.  That stuff really helps joints and keeps you loose.

  2. Keep 'em outta the spokes when the wheel is turning is my one hard & fast rule.

This advice has served me well over the years.

  3. My suggestions, in the order they should be tried. When you reach the point where your hands are happy, there's no need to continue further down the list.

1.Keep your wrists straight, and your arms bent and relaxed. 2. Change positions often.

    3. padded gloves

    4. raise the bars. This puts more weight on your saddle, but less on your hands.

    5. padded handlebar tape...

    6. covered with inch-thick pipe insulation foam

    7. clip-on aerobars

    8. forget the first 7 suggestions and get a recumbent bike.

  4. Wear gloves, that's the ticket for me.

  5. I suggest the following:

    - gel pads in your gloves

    - gel pad under your handlebar wraps (road bike)

    - cushy handlebar wraps (road bike)

    - cushy grips (mountain bike)

    - bar extensions (mountain bike)

    - frequent changes of hand position while riding

If you already have carpal tunnel or ulnar nerve issues you should also talk with your doctor and/or folks at your bicycle shop.  There are other measures they may advise you to take.

    Hope this helps.
