  2. Practice.

  3. Practice, practice, practice is a vague answer to a legitimate question. You have to know some fundamentals of HOW to bank before you can start practicing.

There is a very good book by Robert Byrne called "Standard Book of Pool and Billiards". Page 35 will get you started on the road to making and mastering bank shots.

The book is full of diagrams and easy to follow instructions and is written with a great sense humor. It addresses every level of the game so it's great reading for the novice as well as a seasoned player.

  4. What is a good way to answer this question without saying practice?

  5. i play by myself just randomly put all the balls on the table and shoot them in bank shots only if you scratch stop and pull all the balls out and start over dont quit until you dont scratch do it for combos to but shoot the hard shots try playing in order or stripe solid it will help to teach you cue ball positioning as well

  6. Practice, practice, practice, then when you are done practicing... PRACTICE SOME MORE!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Aside from practicing, watch those that are really good at it and even ask for their advice or hints. Some may even try to help by playing you a game or two.

  8. a book called The Illustrated Principles of Pool gives a pretty good description of the diamond method fo banks.  It also has excellent basic pool strategies and methods that can greatly improve your game.

Richard has got the standard method but make sure you pay attention to the english you put on the cue as it changes with the collision.  Also don't put the tip under the rail.  It throws off your aim.  Put the tip where the ball will impact the rail.  With no english and a slow shot the ball will leave the rail at the same angle as it struck .  As you build speed the angle of exit gets less.

  9. If you know someone who is real good at shooting bank shots ask them to show you some stuff. There really is no substitute for practice though. If you have a table at home or have access to a drop pocket table just practice banking. Rack all the balls , in no particular order , break them  up and just start banking. Bank every shot until all the balls are pocketed then rerack and start over. You can even play banks with a friend. Count each ball banked in as a point and see who gets the most points per rack. You can only get better. Good luck to ya.

    PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE

  12. The best way to learn to make bank shots in pool would be to line the bank up with your cue stick. Get the angle you think is best for the shot and take the tip of your cue and put it on the rail directly behind the cue then rotate your cue with the tip still on the rail and point the stick to the ball your are trying to hit, and the to the hole. This way you will be able to judge the correct angle and hit the ball accurately. I know it sounds kinda confusing but believe me it works. Just practice it a little and you will get it.

  13. I personally find it helps to go over to the wall you are banking off of and try to line up the ball you are trying to sink with the hole. Once you know the place that you want your ball to bank off of, then go line up your shot with the que ball and shoot. You may not be very good at it at first, in fact you may suck, but after a while you won't have to take the time to directly aim the ball up with the pocket and intuition will take over. So in other words, practice, practice, practice.
