What is a good way to make good tips at applebee's?

I just started two days ago and I worked a 10 hour shift and only came out with $60 in tips each day. I feel like applebee's is jipping me! What is a best way to make good tips so then I can keep as much tips as possible at the end of the night? Sadley, we only get two tables..so that is out of the question! Help!

well, I don't go there for these reasons:

1. take forever to order

2. the food tastes like c**p

3. the wait staff suck at their jobs, but think they rock!

4. The food takes forever to get to your table and it comes cold!

5. You wait 15 min. for a refill of iced tea

if you can fix any of these then you'll rake in the bucks!

First of all, do you have to share tips at Applebees?  Whether you work at Applebees or anywhere else, be courteous and friendly to your customers.  Be neat and clean in your appearance.   If the kitchen is slow with the order, make sure to tell your customer about the problem without just letting them sit there.  Don't always keep interrupting to ask how everything is.  Once is enough.  And PLEASE don't clear any dishes away until everyone at the table is through eating.  That is the most annoying thing to me in a restaurant.   I am a slow eater and when the dishes are being cleared away from everyone else, I feel like I have to stop eating and let them take mine too.    What is the problem with leaving the dishes on the table until everyone is done?  If you follow these recommendations, I , for one, would tip you well.

1. Be clean, scrub your nails, no perfume or BO.  Clean shiny hair.

2.  Be friendly but unless people are lonely and open conversations with you, let them talk to each other.  DON'T INTERUPT EATING OR CONVERSATION  to ask how everything is.  

3.  Keep an eye on them without bothering them and be ready to refill a drink, bring a clean spoon, refill water, whatever they need, without conversation.  

4.DON'T RUSH THEM.  Especially, let people finish their before dinner drink before bringing their food.  Let them finish their dinner before snatching their plate away.

5.  Forget all the stupid superstitions you hear about who tips well and who doesn't.  

6.  INSIST upon brewing fresh coffee.  NEVER serve old coffee, or God forbid microwave old coffee, however late it is.  

I averaged 20% tips this way.

if all you are going to get are two tables at a time, then good luck making money at applebees.  how many tables can you handle or think you can handle?  you should consider finding another restaurant job that allows you to take more then two tables, or give applebees more time so you can prove yourself to them and then they will allow you to take more tables at a time.  maybe you should stay on and close or pick up more shifts.  good luck!

Always read the order back to the customer.  You will increase your tips by 30%.
