  1. try to understand than learning it.u will find history very interesting.

  2. get  a3 sheets and write the key facts on them and then revise them , that way you shall bet the core bits of information into your head.

  3. there are a few revision tricks that help me :

record your self saying facts on a mp3 and play it back when you sleep

    OR

Make up a song and memorise it when you think of it you will remember the answers

    OR

    use code

say i wanted 2 remember the dials on a compass

    Never Eat Sredded Weat

( capitals North East South West)

    Good luck

  4. History of northern Ireland is an excellent example of "revising" history.

There are two sides and sometimes 3 or 4, when it comes to recorded history.  Some people even say that "history" is the "Lies that experts have agreed upon."

If you are Protestant, you'd have a different viewpoint, than if you were Catholic, living in Ireland.  Those were the two main opponents in the long, hard fought wars of Northern Ireland.

A Protestant would call an Irish rebel, a terrorist, whereas for the Catholic, the Irish rebel would be a "freedom" fighter.

In some ways you could compare what once happened in Ireland for centuries, is almost equivalent to the current War on Terror, except now we have Christians v. Muslims.

The Muslims of the Middle East, equate our occupation of their lands with what happened to them during the Crusades, of over a thousand years ago.

No wonder we study history, to learn the mistakes and perhaps improve our current decisions.  But, be careful, because of strong point of view between two history books about the same events.

You can decide one is better than the other, or decide that the truth often is a "grey" area, events in history are seldom just "black" or "white."

My suggestion is for you to write one essay (on the same event) as viewed by the mind of an Irishman, the other essay from the point of view of a British soldier.
