  1. I was also a Teacher for many years and worked with this age group and lots of busy activities out at different stations is the best thing. Plenty of activities to get them moving- dancing-music, singing-etc. Lots of crafts and messy activities and outside play. They need this rain or shine. Sitting down with them and careful observation. Things can get out of hand pretty quickly with Toddlers.

  2. 1. As few large group activities as possible. Forget Circle Time and group Story Times.

    2. Offer a choice of activities, but not so many they can't

    decide.

    3. Duplicates of favorite toys.

    4. Quiet music in the background-really boring classical stuff. It really does work.

    5. Lots of messy activities that engage all their senses, but only with one or 2 at a time. This assumes a second adult in the room to help with supervision.

  3. All the activities mentioned above works but i think you need a guide and learn how to apply these activities/educational materials.  You may want to check out this site -->  http://www.montessori-book.com

  4. Each week is full of objects for kids to touch, wild and wiggly activities to get them moving, crafts they will love getting into, and real life situations they can relate to. Our goal is to help each child master one concept at a time by creatively repeating the Bottom Line in a way that it will stick.

Kids thrive on structure and organization. Trust me. They do.

When you are looking at organizing a school with preschoolers, it's important to set realistic and measurable goals. In her book, Kids' Stuff and What to Do With It, author Leigh Rollar Mintz, gives these suggestions for helping to organize your kids:

    * Be consistent! Follow through on any organizational changes, and get your children into the habit of picking up after themselves.

    * Make time to get organized. Schedule the time required to implement your plan.

    * Doing a little is better than doing nothing at all. Set up organizational systems a few at a time.

    * During organizing and chore times, maintain a cheerful attitude and encourage your child.

    * Work together with your spouse to teach your children the concept of cooperation.

    * Work together as a family. Think of organizational projects the whole family can work on together. Whenever possible, involve your children in family decisions.

    * Show your kids ways they can help other people. This kind of outreach will teach children to think of others instead of focusing only on themselves.

    * Make jobs manageable for your child.

    * Remember that when life has order, we have more time to focus on God, on our family, and on ourselves.

    * In everything we do, we train our children. They will model after us.

By teaching your preschoolers the value of organization, you are giving them tools for life.

  5. Not too much structure- lots of playtime with lots of stimulating activities. For a short circletime- make it mostly movement activites. If you can break the group into smaller groups, that would be easier too.

  6. make a reward system or a star chart.. and lots of toys and play doe

  7. Lots of messy activities and things that tires them out!! OI worked with them for 4 years and it is hard but they always have a nap in the afternoon and is a good time for you to get your energy back!! x

  8. Messy activites are great, like painting, play-dough, water play, etc.  Have a music time, where you and the children dance... do not make them dance, but when they see you and other children, most likely they will do it.  Have outside time at least 2 times a day, even if snowy... bundle them up.  Have snack time, that will take up some time, and offer fresh fruits and veggies, they need to chew.  Studies have shown that this can cut down on biting.  Have a sensory table that is open for a majority of the morning.  Fill it with flour, oatmeal, water (well-supervised, can get slippery), noodles, shredded paper, wrapping paper, old magazines for them to tear, snow, big chunks of frozen ice, so they do not choke... Have a circle time where you read a book, sing a song, but do not make it long.  Children at this age have an attention span of about 2 minutes or less.  Make sure that the room has a lot of toys and multiple of toys, to minimize conflict.  Good luck.

  9. Structure is the most important.  Make sure there is an established routine.  Second, make sure there is ample play activities both structured (circle time with a song or game) and unstructured (free play!).  And don't forget about discipline.  Reward systems are good, but should not be used without a disciplinary system as well (such as time-outs).
