  1. I have been running for 8 years now and would recommend the following:

I would strengthen the core: calves, quads, hams, back and abdominal (the "six pack" muscles along with the obleks), chest and arms. But when strengthening these muscles, I would focus more on the muscle endurance not the muscle bulk. For more advice for this, I would consult with a personal trainer. For the running part, I would stay flexible as it helps/contributes to your balance (so do the muscles in your core) but also helps prevent some injuries like pulled muscles and shin splints. Also, I would try to make up a schedule where you can run for X amount of days and try to have a long run. I would start off slowly, running about 2-3 miles per run for the first week and increase my mileage per week. Make sure you have the following: a good diet, hydration, sleep, a good sense on how to take care of your body, and sleep. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Good Luck!!!

  2. Hey buddy Spokane local here!  I have done Bloomsday many times still trying for under 50 minutes.  Did not do it this year since I ran a 50K run two weeks before.  You have plenty of time to train.  Spokane offers many Bloomsday training clinics that can help and are perfect for beginners.  These don't start till around Feb-April, (I am going to assume you are in Spokane or near.)  What you can do now is just run and run.  Try to run and even walk at times 3 X week for 20 to 30 minutes.  Is track or cross country sports at your school?  Try joining those teams you will get plenty of help and advice from your coaches and team mates.  For now just try to get in some running.  Be careful not to run to far or too hard.  You are young and you can do it no problem just train smart.  And most important have fun running.

    Good Luck

  3. alright! bloomsday! well just run cross country =]] and bloomsday will seem like a practice run to you!

  4. I dont know what bloomsday is but you could try going for early morning runs. start off doing 2k for two wks or when you feel you have got the 2k down pat and then take it up to 3k. when you are comfortable running the 3k take it up to 4 or 5k. take it up 1 or 2k each time after that. although it depends on how long the run is.
