  5. Unsure of a website but i can suggest a fabulous book by the name of 'The safety of herbs' authors professor S Talalaj and J Talalaj. It covers a vast majority of herbs and their uses but more importantly the side effects and interactions with other medications etc.IMPORTANT;Just because its natural doesnt mean it cant harm you. Best of luck

  6. Many people are interested in herbs these days, and there's a lot to learn about them. Books, magazine articles, blogs, health newsletters all routinely carry informative articles about herbs. They add flavor to food and they can also promote health.

You can find out almost anything you need to know about herbs, vitamins, minerals, and other dietary supplements by going to any number of sources. There are a number of books that have been published about herbs that are available from your local library, book stores like Barnes & Noble or Borders, or online from Amazon and other book retailers.

Now people are getting more and more interested in herbal remedies. Overuse of antibiotics has caused antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria to develop, which frightens many. We've actually learned that many of our common medicines, even aspirin, are derived from traditional healing sources.

A good site to visit is Viable Herbal Solutions at (viable-herbal.com,) for an extensive overview about herbs, for what conditions individual herbs have been proven to be helpful, including possible side effects and interactions with other herbs, supplements, and prescription medications

If you want to learn more about herbs and how to grow and preserve them, choosing which herbs to grow, creating indoor and outdoor gardens, herb garden designs, using herbs for decoration, and how to preserve herbs for various uses.

I wish you luck Princess! And hope this will help you on your way to Geting back to basics and natural living by learning more about herbs and how you can use them to improve your health and well being. 9. I have been a practicing Witch since 1971 and if there's ONE thing I DO know, it's Herbs. The first thing that I have MY students do is to BUY a Peterson Field guide to Medicinal Plants and Herbs AND buy an Audubon Field Guide to North American Wild Flowers, AND a Peterson field guide to Wild Flowers, AND a Peterson Field guide to Edible Wild Plants.

THEN I make my students go out and actually collect TWENTY herbs and positively identify them, give their medicinal usages, give ALL the precautions for their usages, determine dosages and methods of administration, and KNOW the counterindications for usage and side effects, both short term and long term.

I make them do all of this BEFORE I even LET them attempt to use any herbal preparation, even commercial preparations, bought over the counter.

Herbology is NOT something that you simply go to a site to read up on and then just start taking herbals because some person whose credentials you know nothing about, recommends that you take something for an ailment. The BEST herbalists does his or her OWN research and does it thoroughly and carefully. Remember, practicing Herbology, even on yourself, is practising Medicine. If you're going to practice Medicine, then you BETTER know exactly what it IS that you are doing to yourself. Even the EXPERTS seldom rely on just ONE source of information, neither should YOU. Google just the term "Medicinal Herbs + Usage" and you'll come up with thousands of sites, many of which are excellent and a few which are absolutely terrible. The good ones will use Linnaeus's classification system and use ONLY the Genus, species and Variety that is called for; "Almost" doesn't cut it in herbology. Taking the WRONG Variety can result in the WRONG effects in many cases and you DON'T need to experiment on yourself. YOU make an irreplaceable guinea pig and when the test subject dies, there's no do-overs. At least NOT in THIS lifetime.

    Brightest Blessings,
