They are out of school for the summer and I need some ideas on where I can send them. Money is tight right now and I need a creative way of keeping them entertained besides watching tv all day long.

  1. PBSKids, Noggin, National Geographic Kids

Try taking them to library functions (usually free) to keep them entertained, check out books for them, buy them craft kits, or one of those outdoor sprinklers where the nozzles go all over the place so they get exercise outdoors. Too much TV and internet are bad for children.

  2. Why not just start a website for your kid?  Like this one at www.jadamink.com?  Your child could create it as she sees fit.  And if you have one computer, they can each take turns on the computer for one hour per day on their own websites or work together to build their own site.

there are others but www.jadamink.com was the first that I found

  3. This is my site, its safe! Its a forum for girls ages 10+. I have a few moderators who are 15, 12, and 16. I'm 13 and the administrator.

We have been looking for some new members. They can join if they want:)

  4. So instead of vegatating in front of the television you want them to vegatate in front of the computer?  Why not cancel the internet for the summer and save that money if money is so tight, it would also be a savings on your electric bill as well.  Going to the library is free, so is going to your back yard, the park or a playground.  Riding one's bicycle doesn't cost anything.  Neither does playing hide and seek or tag with neighborhood kids.  Kickball only requires a ball and a large number of house holds have one or two lying around.  You can go to Wal*Mart and for $20 or less you can pick up a combination batmitton/volleyball set complete with racquets, ball, shuttle c***s and net.  That's less than our internet connection per month here.  As a parent it is up to YOU to say "No" when it comes to televsion viewing...obviously you haven't done that yet.  Are you aware that once the television is turned on it doesn't HAVE to stay on?  Are you aware that you CAN turn it off at anytime?  You're the parent...start doing your job.

  5. The weather is nice outside. Round up some friends and start a good ol' game of kickball. :-)

  6. www.disneychannel.com

  7. neopets, webkinz, club penguin , funbrain, disney channel.com, agame, sara bella, groovy girls. good luck!

  8. go to funbrain.com its full of fun games for kids. i used to play on that in the computer lab, haha. try it out and see if you like it, i know your kids will, also theres build-a-bear.com that has all kinds of games for kids,

  9. My 12 year old daughter loves poptropica.com. She plays it at school all the time and i checked it to make sure it was safe. Its more for nine and ten year olds, but i think its adorable and  my daughter loves it.

    Hope I helped!

  10. http://neopets.com

    http://zetapets.com

    http://marapets.com

When I was their age, I was ADDICTED to virtual pet site games! :)

Ooh, Club Penguin is a good one too! I loved that website when I was younger (10-12 years old).

  11. You already have Yahoo, so have you got Geocities?

There are page designers and editors, some are a simple walkthrough requiring you simply upload content - others allow extensive editing for those applying a knowledge of the html source....

You can add Guestbooks, Webcounters and view site statistics - money is not an issue, the space you start off with doesn't read like some 10TB SATAI\II HDD spec. but it is a lot nonetheless, take a look at my index...

    http://uk.geocities.com/xtian170174/inde...

....it has just under 4kb left of the available 15Mb

If you want to get started and need any help - just let me know

    - ideally, open one of the html files listed in the index and from your browser menu click View>Source  This will open in Notepad, and should be self-explanatory...

    - If you need to occupy growing minds with something to learn and a creative outlet - this could just get them started in earnest, even with [complex] web-development...., there's plenty more to learn besides - but we all have to start somewhere :)
