What is a good wedding band for a guy??

I am going to be getting married in September of next year and have yet to figure out what ring to get for my fiance. He doesn't want anything over the top by any means. He is firm on wearing his wedding ring no matter what he is doing or where he is at, which is great. The problem that we run into is that he is a welder/metal fabricator is gets filthy at work, he also works on cars. This doesn't bother me, if anything I am flattered that even though I have told him I don't mind him taking his ring off at work, he refuses. He says that once we are married, the ring will not come off of his finger. My question is, what is the best ring to get for him that will last the longest with his job and still look nice? He has requested 14K Gold, but I don't see that lasting very long at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  1. My mom is a Civ. Eng., and in addition to that she plays with rocks and sand for fun. She wears her 10K band all the time and it's still fine, so there's nothing wrong with him getting gold, but you might want to convince him to go with a higher alloy content.

Skip the tungsten - it's a hazard if he gets into an accident. Tungsten is a tool-grade material, and therefore ER cutters can't handle it. The doctors would have to spend far too long getting it off his hand, and you really don't want to risk that.

  2. Titanium is going to be your best bet...ask any jeweler...and they are reasonably price and handsome

  3. i would suggest something plan. if you get diamonds, or engravements done due to his work it'll get dirty and the diamonds will eventually chip break crack and fall out.

  4. Titanium or tunston, Gold is a soft metal and can be damaged easily

This may be a good compermise for him since he like gold but I don't that it will last, and since this has the gold band in it he may love it.

This is also a nice ring he may like this one as well, not gold but a diamond!

  5. Plain...if it is gold, no more than 10 carat.  Otherwise it would be too soft.  Its going to get dirty and after awhile it will be esier to clean a plain one.

  6. Get at tungsten or Titanium band. They come in different colors, so you can find one that looks like it would be 14k Gold. These dont scratch as easily and keep their polish longer. Although, since they are such a hard metal, they are not as easy to cut off in an emergency. Titanuim Rings can be re-sized where tungsten cannot. My husband has a titanuim wedding band and he loves it. He does escavating and works alot with his hands, so this was the best choice for him. Good luck!

  7. Tungsten is defiantly the way to go for someone who works with their hands.  Here's an entry about the metal in Wikipedia.

  8. theres one on the tiffany's website, its like 350 (YES, tiffany's $350) and gorgeous. Plain, silver, thick, very nice.
