I will be pulling loads that wiegh about 5000lbs normally. I don't want to buy something that is overkill because I'll be using this for personal use as well. I was thinking an F-250, but I'm not sure why. What do you recommend and why? I'd like to keep it under $15,000.

  1. I have a f250 and I love it , saw a couple of em in the paper below 15000,,,,, before you buy used do your homework.....

one site I use to get info on vechiles is www.kbb.com

a 250 will easily tow that weight and more.....peace

  2. toyota tundra nissan titan

  3. You really dont need a 3/4 ton truck (f-250 or chevy 2500) to tow 5000 lbs, a half ton (f150 or 1500) with a V8 will do the job. Also the toyota tundra is heavy enough to pull that amount. The way truck prices are now you shouldnt have a problem getting a half ton ford or chevy thats only 2-3 yrs old for $15k. dealers lots are full of them and they will do anything to get someone to take one off the lot, happy hunting!

  4. 2003 and up F-150s have a max. towing cap. of 9500lbs plus 1500 payload. with a 4.6 V-8 you can't go wrong.

  5. The F-250 is complete overkill. The 2008 model alone can tow up to 15,000 lbs.
