I am Joining the Navy to become a Navy SEAL. I do not know a good workout routine.

Right now I.....

Run 6 miles in 42-46min 4-5 times a week, adding on about half a mile every week. That is the only set exercise i do weekly.

the problem is i need a good workout routine for my Abs/ Upper body.

I need to be able to swim 500yds in 10 min

42 push-ups in 2 min

42 sit-ups in 2 min

6 pull-ups

and run 1.5miles in 11.5min

any suggestions?

  1. i watched for special forces in france and they go about 20 min doing pushups and then when they are tired they go running.

  2. There are many different books and programs out there, I have tried a few myself, but there is one that I have totally fallen in love with. It's called the 7 minute muscle program, I found it surfing the net one day, at first I was sceptical since it does cost some money, but I found that the results are well worth it, and of course there is a money back guarantee if it doesn't work for you. I have been on this for two months now and I have lost weight, and toned my muscles too. Anyways I have rambled long enough here, try this site, www.7minmuscle.com

  3. Push-ups are very good. But most people think of the simple ones, but there are many different types of push-ups that work different parts of your upper body. Wide, Regular, Diamond, Feet elevated, one-handed, all of these work different parts of the chest/arms. And you will find yourself using muscles you didn't even know you had. As for lower body, running is the Holy Grail of workouts. But for strength, lunges and squats work perfectly.

  4. oh come on, are you telling me you cant do

    swim 500yds in 10 min

    42 push-ups in 2 min

    42 sit-ups in 2 min

    6 pull-ups

    and run 1.5miles in 11.5min

I mean I can do all of them (cept maybe the swimming part) and im just an average 145 pound male

Just do sets of....dude, I dont even know what to tell you. Im sure you can pass the tests easily

well, I guess I can tell you to try to time yourself and see if you CAN pass it, and if you cant just keep doing those specific work outs. Do push ups in sets of 30, sit ups in sets of 50, as many pull ups as you can. and dont worry about the run, your alredy doing that

    you will pass
