  1. One of many could be planting a tree and talking about it.

Listed below is a few websites that might help you with some ideas.

  2. Recycle Corner, get your parents involved

preschoolers love volcano's, build one and set it off for them

    grow anything

  3. *Plant a "garden" in your sand table.

*Show the children bean seeds, and let each child put one bean seed in a ziploc bag with a wet cotton ball.  Put the bags on a tray, or tape them to the wall beside a window and encourage the children to observe them daily to see what happens.  They will be able to see the seeds sprout and begin to grow.  Then they can plant the sprout if you wish.

*Get nightcrawlers (worms) from a bait stand and put several containers of them in a large bin.  Let the children use magnifying glasses and rulers to observe them and measure them.  Read a book about what worms do for our soil.  They are very important creatures!  And they don't bite so you don't have to worry about the children handling them.  Just remind the children to be kind to them!

*Read a book about the seasons or about fall.  Then go for a walk and collect leaves.  When you get back, give the children magnifying glasses to examine the leaves.  Then you can tape some of the leaves to the table and make crayon rubbings, or use glue ("just a dot, not a lot") to make collages.

I have done all these with preschool children and they absolutely love them.  If you want some songs to go along with a fall theme, check this web site:

Click on Music & Songs.  You'll finds all kinds of fun songs you can teach the children to go with this kind of project or theme.
