What is a great inexpensive Network cable tester?

I would like one easy enough and an idiot could use.

I just needs to test for wiremap (basic connectivity), not any advanced tests. Under $200 would be good.

  1. Actually for about $125-150 the Test-UM TP600 Lan Rover Pro is really hard to beat. Basically will test all types of cables and even has length detection etc.

Not bad at all for that price!  It will show all lines, crossed lines, opens, and displays all 8 wires on the LCD! Has a tone generator and other features.

They are available on the web or at local test distributors.

    http://www.kiesub.com/prostores/servlet/...  has them and

    as does Amazon etc.

Even less is the TP300  works for most home/small business needs.

  2. You can get a router kit from Bestbuy or futurshop for 50 bucks by dLink.

And in the settings. It will show cables that are connected and working. If they are connected.

  3. siemons makes one that just tests wiremap..
