  1. fish

you have to clean their tank and feed them

    most rodents smell

    maybe a teacup dog

but there harder to take care of

fish are the easiest pet to take care of

  2. I suggest, a rabbit or a guinea pig, both are fairly easy to take care of and don't smell too terrible!

Guinea pigs must live indoors, but rabbits can live, in or out, and theres several different breeds of both, but if your not the rodent liking type, how about a cat?

Not a cat person? A dog? I would have to say get an older dog, like not a puppy, cause you have to train them..

But above all, why not a bunny?!?! xD

  3. i would say the on ly thing is clean, don't bite, and easily to care for and love to be loved always is a rat sorry that is the only perfect pet you could ever have i have 2 girl rats and they are just dolls to me fancy rat and did i mention that they don't bite and they are so easily to care for and not at all smelly

ask her wat she likes than you will get the answersw but i was helping you with it good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. a hamster, or gerbils would make good pets for you

  5. gerbils dont smell at all they are lovely and can be tamed to sit on your shoulder and dont need alot of looking after but have to be handled every couple of days like any other rodent

    http://www.royalpythons.eu/images/gerbil...

heres a pic of a gerbil if u dont no what 1 is not saying u dont but incase

  6. A guinea pig or a hamster, if the cage is cleaned enough you it won't smell :) I have 2 and they're pretty easy to take care of :)

  7. guinea pigs, fish, degu, or a hamster or mice.

  8. Probably a rabbit or a hamster. Both are fairly simple to take care of and don't take a whole lot of accessories either.

  9. Rabbits are very easy to care for can be litter boxed trained and I don't know of a little girl who could resist a baby bunny! Have fun with whatever you decide!

  10. Well your questions kind of hard to answer because hamster, guinea pigs...ect mostly all bite and smell. The only small pet i can think of that follows the requirements you want, is rats, but you said you don't want rats so your question is kind of impossible.

I think you should give rats a chance !

They might freak people out because of their tail and because their well "rats" but they really are the most loving, kind, smart rodents you can get, and would be perfect for your daughter  ;)

    I Hope I Helped

  11. guinea pigs are great but taking care of them properly is very important. their vets visits can be pricey so if you cant handle that part then maybe don't get one. oh and it's best to get them in pairs so they have company, they get sad when they're alone. good luck.

  12. maybe a small cat/kitten all you have to really do is feed them and give them water and then they will look after themselves! my cat doesn't smell and we don't groom him and he hardly ever bites!

  13. I would strongly suggest a pair of pet rats. Rats are the sweetest and gentlest rodents out there. They are also they smartest. They can learn their name and even tricks. They very very rarely bite if they are tamed. And they don't smell at all, unless you don't clean their cage.

I know you said you didn't want rats, but you need to give them a chance. I didn't want rats, but once we got them, I got to see how friendly and sweet they really are. You will be missing out if you don't see beyond the sewer rats...

Here's a list of stuff you need for them along with links of where you can get them etc.

    •A cage

This first one is probably the best place to get a cage.

    http://www.martinscages.com/products/cag...

There's not many other places where you can find a cheaper cage than Martin's. I would suggest getting "The Rat Carriage House" cage or larger.

Of course there's always the other options of Petco/Petsmart. But you will be paying a lot more for a cage from here.

    http://www.petsmart.com/family/index.jsp...

Scroll to the bottom of Page 1 here. The last 4 or so are all good cages for a pair of rats.

    http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js...

We have one similar to this for our 3 girls.

•Food- We feed ours 2 types of food, but you don't have to.

The first kind is just pellets... Commonly called Lab Blocks.

And the 2nd is just regular food for them. It's a mixture of several different things.

    • Bedding

This first one is CareFresh. It comes in many many colors, but It's also on the expensive side. It comes in about 4-5 sizes, the largest bag being around $25. The only problem with this is, that it get's really dusty which isn't good on rats' breathing.

The best bedding you can get for pet rats is this:

    http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js...

They absolutely LOVE it. They will put it in their mouth and drag it to their house. It's really cute. It's also dust free.

There are LOTS of bedding options out there, but be SURE to stay far away from pine and cedar bedding. Even if it's kiln dried, the oils in it will irritate rats' skin and cause respiratory problems.

    • Glass water bottle

It is VERY important that they have a chew proof/glass water bottle because they will bite a hole in plastic ones and cause all the water to leak out of it.

    • House(s)

Try to get a wooden house that they can chew on. They might destroy a plastic one. You can find them at Petsmart and Petco.

    • Toys/Treats (optional)

For toys, just get something small that you think they will like.. Maybe some chew toys or a little log to climb on.

And rats eat anything, but they especially like yogurt treats.

Just remember that rats are social pets and MUST live in a group of 2 or more rats. If they don't, they will become mean and unsocialized.

There are some more options though.

I have 6 guinea pigs myself, and they are really fun pets.

They are generally clean, and pretty quiet. They require very little care, and are fun to play with. And they will NOT smell unless you don't clean their cage very often.

Some bad things are that they need large cages which will take up a lot of space, and they are very expensive to have. We spend about $200 a month on the 6 of them. But that includes, Bedding, Hay, Food, Toys, Houses, Water bottles, everything.

They are social animals too and would like to live in a pair of 2 or more.

    http://www.cavyspirit . com/care.htm (take out the spaces)

Here is a checklist of everything you will need...

    • Cage-- The best place to get a cage is from here:

    http://www.guineapigcages . com/ (take out the spaces)

You are allowed to choose your size of cage and they will ship it right to you within a couple weeks. Those cages are great for guinea pigs because they allow enough room to play and have good air circulation, but they are a bit expensive. You can find the same quality cages from Ebay...

    • Food

Do NOT give your guinea pigs food with anything but pellets. Seeds are bad for guinea pigs as they can choke on them. We have Nutriphase for our pigs, but there are many brands out there to choose from. Here's what we get:

    http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js...

    • Water bottle

Make sure you're giving them a sipper water bottle like the one in the link. And you should replace the water in it everyday to keep it fresh, but it's not gonna kill them if you forget one day.

    http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js...

It doesn't have to be that big, but then they wouldn't run out as fast...

    • Food Dish

One with a heavy bottom would work the best because they like to perch themselves on the side of the dish while they eat.

    http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js...

The ones in the link work pretty well.

    • Timothy Hay

Timothy hay is the most important part of a guinea pig's diet. They need this everyday, and give them as much as they want. Don't limit them to a little amount.

    http:// www . petsmart . com/product/index . jsp?productId=2753608

    ^^ Take out the spaces^^

It can get expensive, but it's necessary.

    • Bedding-- Carefresh works really well, but it's expensive because guinea pig cages need to be so large. We used to use it, but we now use this new bedding called Sun Seed Fresh World Bedding.

    http: // www . petsmart . com/product/index . jsp?productId=3058629

    ^^Take out the spaces^^

It controls odors pretty well and it's the same price as CareFresh, and less dusty than it.

If all fails, then you can always go for the cheapest bedding, which is Aspen. Unlike pine and cedar, it is completely safe for your guinea pigs.

There's also a product out ther called Soft Sorbent. It's just like CareFresh, but a lot less dusty. It comes in scents so it controls odor pretty well.

    •Houses

They will use anything that's big enough for them, so look around. Check on Petsmart's or Petco's site.

If you don't have enough money for houses (they can get expensive.. some even $20), you can always drape a towel over the corners of the cage and make a little hide out for them.

Just remember that guinea pigs are social and live in groups of 2 or more. Guinea pigs are one of the few rodents that don't make their own vitamin C, so you need to offer them dark, leafy, green vegetables (such as parsley and kale. They also enjoy ROMAINE lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, and Cucumbers) daily to prevent them from getting scurvy, which is caused by a lack of Vitamin C. Another thing you need to know is that they need Floortime daily. Here is a site on it since it would take a long time to explain what it is.

    http://www.guineapigcages.com/floortime....

They really seem to enjoy it too.

It doesn't end there. There are so many other types of animals you could have including(the top 3 are rodents that are extremely easy to care for):

    Hamsters

    Gerbils

    Mice

    ----------------------

    Rabbits

    Ferrets

    Dogs

    Cats

    Etc....

  14. Gerbils are perfect for 11 year girl I'm getting more

  15. well, no matter what you decide to get, pets do require a lot of work and responsibility and most animals will bite you at some point in time...but I'm guessing a guinea pig. my friend has one and she loves it. they can be very small but not nearly as small as a rat...they do not require a lot of work and are fairly easy to manage. and a plus is that when they do bite, it doesn't hurt :) that would work or maybe a small dog...

  16. get a rat they are awesome!

rats are social, fun sweet smart and they can learn their names! rats almost never bite either! get two rats of the same s*x/age. you will need 2 of every thing food dishes, water bottles, toys, ect... you will need quite a big cage for such small creatures like these ones.: http://www.dapper.com.au/grotto.htm                http://www.dapper.com.au/cages.htm  you can build them out of wood or cabinets and the rats should have plenty of toys and hammocks!  this is a really fun page for rat toys...:http://www.dapper.com.au/toys.htm rats are cute smart and fun! if your rat is a girl, she will be very exploritive and playful. if it is a male he will be lazy and cuddly and he will hang out on your shoulder forever! females tend to get tumors so you should have some "emergency" money set aside for vet bills!  females get periods when they are about 6 weeks but it will stop after about a year or earlier! sometimes they will even "hump" the cagemates but nothing will happen if they are both females! never get a tank for the cage because there is not enough ventilation. always get carefresh bedding and never pine or cedar or any shavings! here are some of my favorite links about rats! http://ratguide.com/ http://www.petrat.info/ http://www.ratfanclub.org/helpinfo.html that should be enough information about rats!                                                                    best of luck!  if you need anymore info just email me!

    gymnast88 ☺♥♥☺

P.S. rats dont stink at all!

  17. A kitten, or a puppy. Something that will grow up with her. If you go for a puppy, some really good breeds (who are also medium in size) are Shelties and Border Collies (or a mix therein). I would say a full collie, since they get pretty large. And, you might like feeding them Purina One, since all out animals have lived nigh on forever with that food (and they were healthy and happy.....how many 16 year old dogs do you know who chase rabbits?). Good luck. And ask her what she might want.

  18. hamster or guinea pig

  19. our friends just got chipmunks and they could be good for you. They dont smell and dont need cleaning out very often, they are also interesting to watch and will eat anything you give them. easy peasy pet!! xx

  20. a pair of female rats. They are clean, smart and fun. easy to care for, very sweet. I've had lots of rodents over the years, but would only go with rats now. But you have to have at least two...

  21. Cat

  22. a gorilla

  23. hamsters are pretty easy to take care of and so are rabbits.

    hamster

    rabbit

    guinie pig

    fish(get pretty boring)

    dog(harder work)

    mouse

    frog

    lizard

    snake

I would get some sort of rodent

  24. a rat they make great pets!

  25. i know you said not a rat but you should really consider getting them yes the tail are icky but you get used to them my mom hated rats buts once she played with them she loved them. They can be trained to come to there name and do tricks. There very very friendly, the clean animals and hardly ever bite I've never been biten by my rats and I have 3 of them. They don't bite because they crave attention so they'll do anything to come out and play.
